This 1937 Marlin is a classic one-design sloop that once had active fleets in Harbor Springs and New England. Designed by Philip L. Rhodes who was a prolific, lifetime designer of all types of vessels from small recreational dinghies to large yachts. He was particularly known for the wholesome good looks and sailing qualities of his yacht designs. His work also included commercial and military vessels such as minesweepers and police boats. His clients ranged from Rockefellers to Sears & Roebuck. His 12 Meter class Weatherly won the Americas Cup in 1962. Built by Anchorage, Inc./Dyer Boats in Warren Rhode Island. The Anchorage, Inc. has been building fine boats since 1930 when Bill Dyer founded the company. This boat was completely restored back in 2000 by Van Dam Custom Boats in Boyne City, MI. Ribs were replaced, new planking from the waterline down with the original keel. Everything was refastened, new deck, new transom, hull was glassed and she's water tight. All in all the owner spent close to $35,000 for the restoration work. This is a rare boat, the class in New England was wiped out by a Hurricane and this is the only known boat from the fleet in Harbor Springs.
